After the actual demand flow and control flow of the power steering system are determined, the displacement selection of power steering pump only needs to meet the flow demand under different rotational speeds, not too big, excessive flow not only causes the engine power waste, but also increases the pump system internal circulation, causes the system oil temperature to be excessively high, reduces the power steering pump and the entire steering system the service life. The selection of the displacement of power steering oil pump is generally calculated according to the theoretical flow QT required by the steering gear when the engine is in idle condition.
Pressure matching of power steering pump
The pressure of the power steering pump is determined by its load, so the pressure matching of the steering pump only needs to consider its maximum working pressure.
For the steering gear equipped with pressure relief valve, considering the pressure loss between the exit of the steering pump and the inlet of the steering gear, when selecting the maximum pressure of the steering pump, the maximum working pressure of the steering pump is pmax= p1+Δp to ensure that the output torque of the steering gear can reach its theoretical maximum output torque.

For the steering gear not equipped with pressure relief valve, in order to ensure that the working pressure of the steering gear will not exceed its maximum working pressure, the work safety of steering system is ensured, and the maximum working pressure of the steering pump is pmax= p1-Δps.
